10 - 13 April 2013: RMI's Debut at Musikmesse Frankfurt
We were very pleased to exhibit in Frankfurt this year where we launched our new range of basses. The show was good fun and the welcoming, friendly community spirit of fellow exhibitors created a most positive and rewarding experience for us. Situated among some of Europe's guitar and bass giants, we had the pleasure of showcasing our work and witnessing the talents and enthusiasm of many fine players!
Our stand was visited by musicians, manufacturers, distributors and the press. RMI will feature in upcoming publications of leading guitar and bass magazines in both Germany and Finland.
The mastermind behind Delano pickups and electronics, Mr Reihard Jedamzik paid us a visit and we discussed a custom pickup solution for an exciting upcoming addition the Aurora series - a 10-string model with a highly specialised pickup construction. Watch this space!
It was also a nice surprise to have Norbert from ETS visit us. ETS is our supplier of handmade, world-class custom hardware. Always great to see how much care and attention these company bosses give to their products and their customers.
05 May 2013: RMI Welcomes Andre Nkouga
RMI is pleased to announce our exciting collaboration with Cameroon-born exotic groove bass virtuoso Andre Nkouga. We had the good fortune of meeting Andre at Musikmesse Frankfurt 2013 where he was performing.
Andre is an internationally-acclaimed 10-string bassist. His knowledge and experience of extended range instruments, coupled with his musical approach fits very well with the RMI vision and passion. We welcome his expertise on board!
Our immediate project will involve producing a custom left-handed Jaybee PB7SFR for Andre to play with his new band The 3 Kings. The band will perform in Paris mid September this year. Stay tuned for dates and more news!

07 April 2013: RMI Web Launch
Our very first bit of news: Finally, after years of entertaining the idea to start a business building basses, and over 18 months spent designing and experimenting with different suppliers to develop prototypes to our satisfaction, RMI is born! Not sure exactly what to expect but we're excited about the future and doing what we can to show our work! We will be exhibiting at Musikmesse Frankfurt on 10 - 13 April. Read more below. Our RMI Facebook page will also be up and running sometime soon after the Musikmesse.
It 's been a crazy past few weeks with many 'all nighters' working on the website, setting up the basses, taking photos and wiring the electronics. Countless evenings were spent by RMI's electronics expert and good family friend, Bill Bulford who has worked tirelessly to ensure the display basses are all ready for their debut at Musikmesse. Also worth mentioning is that Bill engineered an elegant solution for incorporating a balanced blend of tone and volume inside our Hummingbird series where piezo and magnetic pickups typically mismatch on impedence without buffer amplification. Thank you Bill for the insights and proving the concept for us!
